A 200-meter section of an unfinished bridge in the Indian state of Bihar collapsed but there were no injuries or deaths. This is the second collapse of this bridge in more than a year, as part of the bridge previously collapsed in April 2022.

Shortly after footage of the collapsed bridge appeared on social media, state officials held a press conference saying the collapse was intentional, after experts had noted several problems.

"We remember that a part of this bridge collapsed on April 30 last year. After that, we approached the Rurki Institute of Technology with a request to conduct the study,” said Tejashwi Yadav, Bihar official.

On the other hand, the representative of the road construction department, Prataj Amrit, said that the demolition was a "precautionary measure".

"It was decided not to take any risks and wait for the final report. For this reason, we continued with the dismantling of parts of the bridge. It was part of such a preventive measure," he said.
