The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, gave an interview to the BBC, where he talked about the tensions in the north of Kosovo. Asked about the possibility of holding new early elections, Kurti left it open as he initially demanded that the violent gangs return to Serbia or go to prison.
"I am ready to listen to proposals for early elections, but after the rule of law is established in the country," he said.
Among other things, he emphasized that the mayors are in their offices and will not leave there.
"If these buildings are not for the mayors, then who should they serve? The presidents are in their offices, and that's how it should be. Those buildings are assets of the Republic of Kosovo. They used to be parallel structures of Serbia, but they are illegal structures, created with the funds of official Belgrade, which wants to destabilize our country, with the idea of Belgrade to create a big Serbian world", he said.
Clarifying that he has a good relationship with the allies, USA-EU, the Prime Minister emphasized that he cannot make compromises for Kosovo.
"We consider the USA, the EU, Great Britain, indisputable allies and friends, and we are very grateful to them for our freedom and independence and for the development of democracy. However, we cannot hand over our Republic to the fascist police who are paid by the autocrats in Belgrade, who was once Milosevic's minister of propaganda".
Holding new elections in the north of the country has been one of the demands of the European Union itself. This is in addition to two other requests, which have to do with the participation of Serbs in the elections and the start of work for the establishment of the Association.
