A serious incident occurred overnight in Turkey's Gaziantep province when a police helicopter crashed in circumstances that are still unknown. As a result, the two pilots lost their lives and a technician on board was injured.

According to the report by Turkish Interior Minister Ali Gerlikaya, the helicopter took off from Hatay airport but crashed in Gaziantep's Kartal village shortly before landing at the area's airport.

The pilots last contacted air traffic controllers at 10:49 p.m. Saturday night local time.

Investigations into the circumstances of this serious accident have continued, foreign media report.
