The authorities in Spain have raised the alarm about the Albanian mafia. They have emphasized that criminal groups have reached the point where they control most of the marijuana traffic. The Albanian mafia landed in Spain in the 1990s, where it first became known for human trafficking and heroin.
However, over the years, these dangerous criminal organizations, part of which were from Albania and Kosovo, have become sophisticated and spread almost throughout the territory, becoming the kings of drug trafficking not only in Spain, but also in Britain or Ecuador.
The police in Spain have said that Albanian gangs have set up plantations everywhere, the investment they make is very small, but their profit is immediate. The authorities also warn of the danger of these organizations that have taken control of the marijuana traffic in the country.
"Until now, the Albanian clans present in Spain have acted much more discreetly compared to other international mafias. Those who are dedicated to drug trafficking keep a low profile, although they are very violent, they usually do not show it in public. In this way, they can go unnoticed to continue producing marijuana on a large scale and then introduce it to Europe," reports Spanish media.
Albanian clans are said to have gained the trust of all international criminal organizations. They have achieved this mainly because of the fear they evoke. However, these gangs have been repeatedly attacked by the State Security Forces and every week there are anti-drug operations with arrestees of Albanian origin.
Although, of course, the vast majority of these detainees are 'gardeners', so called because they take care of the plantations.
