An insider reported to the Americans: How traffic cameras were hacked by the

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was assassinated after Israeli spies hacked traffic cameras in Tehran, Sky News reports.

The cameras were one of several intelligence sources that helped confirm the Ayatollah's location on Saturday morning, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

According to them, there was also a human source reporting to the Americans, although the CIA declined to comment.

A current Israeli intelligence official told the Financial Times: “We knew Tehran like we know Jerusalem… and when you know [a place] as well as the street you grew up on, you notice even the smallest thing that’s wrong.”

Israel was able to disrupt “a dozen or so” surrounding cell phone towers to prevent Khamenei’s bodyguards from receiving possible warnings.

According to sources, the decision to target the Iranian leader was made at the beginning of the attacks, before he could seek shelter in a bomb-proof bunker.

The operation had been planned for months, the Financial Times reported, but was adapted when American and Israeli intelligence learned that Khamenei and senior officials would meet at his compound on Saturday.
