Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, have participated in the high-level forum for the " Belt and Road " initiative (BRI) taking place in Beijing.
During his speech at this forum, Xi presented his vision for the " Belt and Road" initiative , which he positioned as an alternative to development. Both leaders affirmed support in a bilateral discussion.
The BRI, a trillion-dollar investment, aims to bring China closer to the world through infrastructure and investment. More than 145 countries have registered, accounting for three-quarters of the world's population and half of the globe's total wealth.
Rather than participating in an economic cooperation forum, the presence and participation of the Kremlin chief in this forum is seen as an attempt to deepen the undeclared alliance between Moscow and Beijing vis-à-vis the West, amid the conflicts that have erupted and are at risk of exploding in those parts of the globe considered as their sphere of influence, such as Ukraine or Taiwan.
