First, the Brussels agreement reached with Serbia last year should be implemented, followed by the Washington agreement. This was said by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, after being asked if the agreement reached with the mediation of Trump in 2020 is acceptable, if the Republican insists on its implementation.
But Kurti said that he is waiting for the signing of the other agreement, that of Brussels.
The Prime Minister expressed his willingness to work with the new administration of the United States of America, as the relations between the two countries are always good regardless of the party affiliation of the president.
The day before, Vucic said that he had spoken on the phone with the American president, but Kurti refused to comment on which of him and the Serbian president had a better relationship with Trump.
"I make official, state, political reports, and who is better at reports, I don't know this job, I can't say now, but we have to wait, give some time and move forward. We work with every US administration regardless of which candidate won and which party he or she is from."
Kurti said that he is ready to expand the existing cooperation with the United States even more in all fields. At a time when the return of old ideas such as the correction of borders is mentioned, Kurti recalled that Trump's position was the final agreement with mutual recognition.
"In a congratulatory letter that was sent by a predecessor before us, before this government, he also fundamentally established mutual recognition as something central to the future normal relations between Kosovo and Serbia".
During Trump's first term, the idea of exchanging territories between Kosovo and Serbia was supported as a possibility if the parties would agree.
