Hulk Hogan has passed away: the wrestling legend died at the age of 71, he would have turned 72 on August 11.
The news of the passing of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan was made public by the TMZ portal, adding that the cause of death is suspected to be cardiac arrest.
On Thursday morning, medical personnel intervened at his Florida home, where they confirmed his death as a result of cardiac arrest. Just a few weeks earlier, Hogan's wife had denied rumors that he was in a coma, stating that his heart was "strong" as he recovered from several surgeries.
Hulk Hogan transformed professional wrestling into a family-friendly sport. Before him, wrestling was aimed at a more narrow audience. His in-ring theatrics were a magnet for children and their parents.
Hogan was also an American actor and television personality (most notably his role in Rocky III). He was born on August 11, 1953 in Augusta, Georgia, and became known for his charisma, blond mustache, and red headband. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. His matches against André The Giant (died January 28, 1993), Undertaker, and King Kong Bundy (died March 4, 2019) are memorable.
In the 1980s, Hogan was about two meters tall, but over the years he lost about eight centimeters in height, as a result of numerous surgical interventions on his back and spine, even after retiring from the sport, due to severe physical pain.
In November of last year, footage of the WWE legend ripping his shirt off on stage during the Republican National Convention, shortly before Donald Trump's speech, went viral.
