The Kosovo police have detained two suspects in connection with the distribution of some leaflets in North Mitrovica, through which a "call for resistance" was made.

The deputy director of the Kosovo police for the North region, Veton Elshani, said that law enforcement authorities are looking for a third suspect.

During the police action, which took place on Wednesday afternoon, where GK (1978) and DS (1971) were stopped, four locations in North Mitrovica were also raided.

The detainees, according to Elshan, will be interviewed regarding the suspicions that they distributed the flyers.

On February 13, the police announced that at the entrances of buildings and on various streets in North Mitrovica, a municipality inhabited by a majority of Serbs, they had come across flyers calling for "resistance" and inciting hatred. According to the authorities, these flyers were distributed during and after a protest by Serbs in North Mitrovica held on February 12, who opposed the decision to ban the Serbian dinar for making payments in Kosovo.

The leaflets, which were signed by "Popular Defense", which were distributed on various channels on Telegram, contained supposed instructions for resistance to the Kosovo police. Among other things, in these flyers, it was said that the Kosovo police should be shot with any means, police officers should be spat on and insulted. Then, break the police cars with some means and give instructions on how to make Molotov cocktails and the like.

Radio Free Europe has not been able to verify the authenticity of these flyers distributed on the Telegram social network.

Lista Serbe, the main party of Serbs in Kosovo that enjoys the support of official Belgrade, stated that whoever did these actions, aimed to undermine the peace and deepen the instability "so that the Serbs will be blamed for possible new incidents ".
