The English Channel is closed to Albanians, Britain reaches an agreement with

The UK and France reached a new deal aimed at ending illegal migrant crossings to the island through the English Channel.

The agreement signed by secretary Suella Braverman is accompanied by a £63 million package for French authorities, which will increase patrols on beaches where migrants depart.

Also, British staff will be deployed in France to prevent the passage of small boats, through which more than 40,000 people, some of them Albanians, have gone to Britain in the last year alone.

Meanwhile, Britain and France have agreed to increase cooperation on the issue with European partners, with a meeting to be scheduled as soon as possible.

However, there will be no joint patrols between French and British officers after Paris vetoed the idea. Braverman signed the agreement with French Interior Minister Gerald Darman in Paris this morning.
