At the start of closing statements, J akup Krasniqi 's lawyer , Alagendra Venkateswari , said that her client should be declared innocent and returned to his family.

She said that Krasniqi has been in detention in The Hague for 1,926 days.

"We submit that there is only one option for you to reach a verdict of not guilty on all charges brought against Jakup Krasniqi. At the end of the submission, we will call on the honorable court to declare Krasniqi innocent and allow this 75-year-old gentleman to return to his family and spend the years that God has destined for him with his family," she said.
