Closing statements from the defense teams of Rexhep Selim and Jakup Krasniqi will continue in The Hague on Friday. This is the fifth day of the trial.
On Thursday, Veseli's defense team concluded its arguments, arguing that the former Kosovo parliament speaker is innocent and should be released. Otherwise, his lawyer said, "it would be a great injustice."
Veseli's defense has insisted that there is no evidence against him and no witnesses presented by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office.
The lawyers rejected the ZPS's claims that the KLA communiqués were based on intelligence information from Veseli as head of the intelligence-counterintelligence service.
In the afternoon, Rexhep Selim's defense began its closing arguments. Attorney Geoffrey Roberts said that his client is completely innocent. He argued that there was no Joint Criminal Enterprise, as the Prosecution alleges.
Roberts said Selimi fought for freedom, not power, as the SPO has argued. He also questioned the credibility of the prosecution's witnesses.
Thaçi's defense concluded earlier, arguing that if he were convicted it would be a "legal and historical injustice." The prosecution has requested that the four defendants be sentenced to 45 years in prison each, which it described as "life imprisonment."
After the closing arguments, the case will be sent to the panel of judges. The judges have three months to reach a decision on the case, or to request an extension of the deadline for reaching a decision.
