"War in Europe, tensions in the Balkans", Stoltenberg: We are living
Head of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg

"We live in a more dangerous world", this is how the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO), Jens Stoltenberg, declared this Wednesday, December 20.

"There is a war going on in Europe. A new war in the Middle East, tensions in the Western Balkans are rising. The brutality of terrorism remains and climate change is bringing conflicts," said Stoltenberg.

Further, Stoltenberg declared that "this year we have taken significant steps to further strengthen NATO, with more troops in a state of high readiness and increased spending in the army".

Stoltenberg has mentioned some of NATO's main commitments in Europe.

"During the year I met many of you, those in Estonia, those of you exercising in Lithuania, I met the marines who patrol the Mediterranean and those who protect critical infrastructure in the North Sea. I also met the troops who are supporting those who were left on the streets by the devastating earthquake in Turkey, and just last month I met the KFOR troops in the North of Kosovo".

Among other things, Stoltenberg spoke specifically about Kosovo.

"Last month I met the KFOR troops in the north of Kosovo", said Stoltenberg, to continue the speech by making it clear that "helping to maintain a safe and calm environment in Kosovo is the key to the stability of the entire Balkans Western", he concluded.
