A new study has ranked the most dangerous countries to visit in 2024.
South Sudan, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya and Somalia are considered the most dangerous nations in a 2024 map compiled by International SOS.
As The Independent writes, the annual map takes into account several factors to inform travelers and businesses about potential threats in countries around the world.
It assesses medical and security risks, reflecting the impact of events such as the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and that between Israel and Hamas.
This year, for the first time, the map also includes assessments based on climate change risk, as International SOS saw an increasing trend in climate change-related alerts as rising global temperatures increase health risks around the world.
For security reasons, Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, South Sudan, Central African Republic and Somalia are rated at the highest level, "extreme".
The safest countries are all in Europe: Iceland, Luxembourg, Norway, Switzerland and Denmark.
In the "medical" category, the countries labeled as "very high risk" are Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, North Korea, the Palestinian territories, Haiti, Libya, Nigeria, Burika Faso, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Sudan, South Sudan, Central African Republic, Eritrea, Burundi, Somalia.
Countries at "high risk" when it comes to climate change include Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Chad, Niger, Mali, Nigeria, Central African Republic, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique.
