Portofino

If you stay too long taking pictures in the beautiful Italian town of Portofino you will be fined 275 euros. This decision, according to the authorities, will avoid traffic in the luxurious and colorful city.

According to Mayor Matteo Viacava, everyone who stops taking pictures blocks the streets and traffic. He added that people taking selfies cause "anarchic chaos".

Fines for citizens who take photos while being stopped for a long time in a certain location will be imposed only in certain areas of Portofino that are designated as "red zones".

The local government launched the decision over the Easter weekend and plans to keep the selfie rule in place until the end of the holiday season in October.

For tourists desperate to take a selfie in the restricted areas, the ban is lifted every day at 6pm.

This Italian municipality known for its stunning coastline and colorful houses overlooking the sea is not the only zone that is creating bans for selfies or photos.

Japan's authorities have banned people from using selfie sticks on the entire railway network. In the United Kingdom, people have been banned from taking selfies in parts of the Tower of London due to security concerns related to the Royal Crown. In Spain, the government has banned people from taking selfies during the annual running of the bulls event, otherwise they will be fined €3,000.
