The European Union's special envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, tried to organize a meeting between the two leaders, Albin Kurti and Aleksandar Vucic, amid the tensions that have erupted in northern Kosovo.
The meeting was to be held in Bratislava, Slovakia, where the two leaders were invited to the global security conference, Globsec. But after initially announcing that he would attend, the Kosovo government later said Kurti's participation could be canceled due to developments in the north.
Even the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, announced that he will not travel to Bratislava. "I am standing with the people and our soldiers. Serbia will win", he announced, marking his absence from the panel where the prime minister of Albania, Edi Rama, and the prime minister of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski, will be present.
