The Foreign Minister of Germany, Annalena Baerbock, has confirmed that next year the German state will send 150 additional troops within the framework of KFOR in Kosovo.
Baerbock emphasized that peace in the Western Balkans "hangs by a thread".
"In the Western Balkans, peace often hangs in the balance. NATO and EU engagement go hand in hand: the EUFOR mission provides security in Bosnia and Herzegovina and KFOR does the same in Kosovo. Germany will contribute additional soldiers to KFOR", she said at the meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels on Tuesday.
Since the tensions in the north and the attack in Banjska on September 24, Hungary and Britain have sent additional troops to Kosovo. Additional German troops are expected to land in Kosovo during April.
