The head of SPAK, Klodjan Braho, participated in an international meeting held in Palermo, on the topic "International legal cooperation and integration processes of transnational criminal organizations: analysis and work perspectives".
The event, held at the Palace of Justice, is dedicated to the memory of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, and was attended by leaders and representatives of prosecutors' offices and justice institutions from countries in Europe, the Western Balkans, and Latin America.
In his speech, Braho emphasized the approach of the Special Prosecution Office in the face of the challenges posed by transnational organized crime, which according to him increasingly operates through cross-border networks, capable of adapting to technological, financial and logistical developments.
He underlined the importance of an investigative approach that aims to understand the entire chain of criminal activity, starting from the source and organization of criminal activity, to international connections, financial mechanisms, laundering of the proceeds of crime and the final destinations of illicit profits.
During the discussions, emphasis was also placed on the way the phenomenon of organized crime should be addressed in public, seeking to avoid generalizations based on nationality, language or social affiliation. It was also emphasized that the fight against organized crime should focus on individuals, structures and concrete criminal networks, relying on evidence, professional analysis and cooperation between law enforcement authorities.
SPAK believes that confronting transnational organized crime requires proactive and financial investigations, rapid information exchange, and sustained cooperation with international counterpart authorities.
In this context, the Special Prosecution Office considers itself a serious and active partner in the fight against organized crime and corruption.
