The Catholic Church allows priests to bless same-sex marriages
Pope Francis

The Vatican on Monday approved a ruling allowing Catholic priests to bless same-sex couples as long as they are not part of the church's regular rituals or liturgies.

A document from the Vatican's doctrinal office says such blessings would not legitimize irregular situations, but would be a sign that God welcomes everyone.

In this decision approved by Pope Francis, it is said that priests should decide case by case and should not stop the closeness of the Church to people in every situation in which they can ask God's help through a simple blessing.
