A tragedy has occurred on the western coast of Libya, where at least 61 people have disappeared and are suspected to have died as a result of the flooding of the ship by strong waves.

Libya is known as the dominant transit point for illegal migrants heading to Europe from countries such as Africa and the Middle East.

Data from the IOM's International Organization for Migration (IOM) show that more than 28,000 Africans have died or disappeared in the Mediterranean since 2014.

This is due to the fact that the Mediterranean is considered one of the most dangerous migration routes in the world.

Human traffickers have benefited from the chaos in Libya, who have smuggled migrants across the country's long borders.

According to UN investigators, they are then returned to Libya and held in government-run detention centers, where they experience a variety of abuses.
