British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has visited Kiev in a visit that has been kept secret for understandable security reasons by his staff.
Johnson met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and both respective staffs confirmed this.
Mr. Johnson's visit began with a one-on-one meeting with Mr. Zelenskiy, Andriy Sybiha, deputy chief of staff of the Ukrainian president's office, said on Facebook. Prime Minister Johnson met with Mr Zelenskiy "in a show of solidarity with the Ukrainian people," a British government spokesman said.
"They discussed Britain's long-term support for Ukraine and the prime minister will provide a new financial and military aid package," the spokesman said.
Mr Johnson's visit to the Ukrainian capital had not been announced in advance.
"Britain will send more defensive weapons to Ukraine and work with G7 partners to target every pillar of the Russian economy to enable Putin's failure," Prime Minister Johnson wrote on Twitter earlier Saturday.
