American President Joe Biden has announced his candidacy to be re-elected president from among the Democrats, in the upcoming presidential elections to be held in 2024.

Biden formally announced his candidacy on Tuesday, beginning a battle to convince voters he deserves another four years at the helm of the White House.

In a video released today, Biden described next year's race as a fight against Republican extremism, arguing that he needs more time to fulfill his pledge to restore dignity to the country.

"When I ran for president four years ago, I said that we are in a battle for the soul of America. And we continue to be," said the head of the White House in a video message.

"The question we are facing is whether in the coming years we will have more freedom or less freedom. More rights or less," says Biden further.

Biden's slogan for the 2024 election will be: "Let's finish the job."

“I know what I want the answer to be and I think you do too. This is no time to be complacent. That's why I'm running again."

So far, former governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley and former president Donald Trump from among the Republicans have announced their candidacy.
