A television crew from the French network M6 experienced moments of panic after a gas cylinder exploded just a few meters away from the journalist during a live broadcast from the massive fires in the Cap-Ferret area, near Bordeaux in France.
The dramatic incident occurred as the journalist was reporting on the devastating fire that has engulfed the Gironde region. The flames reached an abandoned gas cylinder, which suddenly exploded, creating a large cloud of smoke and a powerful shock wave.
The camera recorded the moment of the explosion, while the signal was immediately cut off to ensure the safety of the television crew and fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The footage shows the extreme danger faced not only by firefighters, but also by journalists reporting from the front lines of fires.
Meanwhile, the situation in southwestern France remains critical. Fires continue to burn out of control, having so far scorched more than 190,000 hectares of forest.
High temperatures and strong winds are making the work of over 2,000 firefighters difficult, while authorities have continued preventive evacuations, removing over 36,000 residents and tourists from the most endangered areas.
