Dressed as a woman, how Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar escaped Israeli military

Yahya Sinwar, the top leader of Hamas, has "dressed up as a woman" while hiding among the Gazan population as he moved outside the terrorist group's network of tunnels in the Gaza Strip, the Daily Express reports, citing Israeli intelligence sources.

The New York Times on Sunday, citing US and Israeli officials, reported that Sinwar may have left tunnels in which he hid on several occasions over the past year.

Sinwar is said to have moved from place to place in the Gaza Strip, evading Israeli attempts to capture or execute him.

Since his appointment as head of Hamas' political bureau following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in late July, Sinwar has been the Islamist organization's undisputed leader.

Additionally, the IDF targeted the head of Hamas' military wing, Mohammad Deif, in July before later confirming the terror leader's elimination.

In August, speaking to the Israeli news outlet Maariv, an Israeli security source estimated that the Sinwars were running out of places to hide after the Israeli offensive in the Strip cut off Hamas' leadership and continued to advance into Gaza.

Sinwar is believed to rely on human couriers to receive information and send instructions, the New York Times noted.

"It is said that Sinwar no longer trusts electronic communications, fearing that the Israeli army will discover his location and kill him," Al-Ain reported earlier this month.

The Arabic-language newspaper Asharq al-Awsat further reported that Sinwar is insisting that his life be spared as part of the ceasefire agreement negotiations.
