The TRAGIC story of Shirel Golan that shocked Israel: He escaped the MASSACRE of
Shirel Golan

Israel is reeling from the news of Shirel Golan's suicide on her birthday, never recovering from the shock of the Hamas attack on the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023.

Shirel, who turned 22 on Sunday, was supposed to spend the day celebrating with her family but instead, as Time of Israel points out, she was found dead at her home in Porat with her cell phone full of congratulatory messages.

The 22-year-old's family accuses the Israeli government of failing to provide assistance to Shirel in the past 12 months following the traumatic post she experienced on October 7, 2023.

How he survived the deadly attack by Hamas

Shirel and her partner Andy were at the Nova festival at the time of the Hamas attack.

The two initially got into a vehicle with the intention of leaving the festival, but soon realized, according to Israeli media, that they would not be able to do so. So they abandoned the vehicle and hid for hours under a bush.

At one point, in fact, they were given the opportunity to get into another car whose occupants were trying to escape the fire of Hamas terrorists. However, Shirel and her partner refused to follow them. Shortly after, the 11 passengers of the vehicle in question were either killed or kidnapped by Hamas, as the 22-year-old confessed in a television interview last November.

Shirel and Andy were eventually rescued by police officer Remo Salman el-Hozayel, who rescued a total of 200 people from the Nova festival while under fire from Palestinian terrorists.

Post-traumatic shock

In the weeks and months after the deadly Hamas attack, Shirel developed symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and was hospitalized twice, although her family says she was never diagnosed with PTSD.

"The state killed Shireli," the 22-year-old's brother Eyal characteristically said on the Ynet website.

According to him, when he found that Shirel had withdrawn from people and called him to ask for help, she replied that at no time had she been helped by government agencies and that any help she had received was from the survivors' organization and relatives of the victims of the Nova music festival.

“My mother was forced to take early retirement to be by her daughter's side. We never left it. The only time this happened was today and she decided to end her life," added Eyal speaking to the Channel.

On the occasion of his sister's tragic end, Eyal Golen called on the State of Israel to "wake up", otherwise there will be more such suicide incidents: "I lost my sister but I want to scream so that others don't lose her." loved ones".

For its part, Israel's Ministry of Social Services responded that " we are providing assistance and support measures in many ways to those who survived the festival " inviting any survivors of the Hamas attack who feel the need for assistance to contact the ministry or by phone or online.
