Hamas released over the weekend a three-minute video featuring unprecedented footage of former leaders of the armed movement who are believed to have orchestrated the October 7, 2023 attack on southern Israel.

All of the men featured were subsequently killed in Israeli military operations over the past 22 months. The video opens with footage of the former head of Hamas' military wing, Mohammed Deif, who talks about the group's fight against Israel's "tyrants".

Throughout the video, scenes of rockets being fired at Israel, footage of the October 7 invasion, military parades and other propaganda clips are shown. It is believed that the material combines authentic visuals with digitally edited images.

Among the footage, for a few seconds you can see a meeting in which Deif, the head of Hamas' political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the organization in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, and the deputy commander of the military wing, Marwan Issa, appear.

All three were killed in Israeli army operations in 2024, as was Mohammed Deif. Their presence in this video reinforces Hamas' image of portraying its dead leaders as "martyrs" and symbols of resistance.

Of particular interest is the fact that the video appears to include at least one image that was produced with artificial intelligence, an element that highlights the use of new technological tools in the organization's propaganda.
