The famous lie of April 1 that went down in history

On April 1, 1957, arguably one of the greatest hoaxes ever made took place. He was inspired by Richard Dimbleby, a pioneering BBC journalist, television and radio producer.

With an added and peculiar sense of humor on April 1, 1957 he presented a unique report on macaroni-producing trees.

The journalist shows an obviously fake documentary about members of an Italian family picking pasta and convincing the British that it is grown there.

Shortly after the report aired, British viewers were contacting the BBC to find out how they could get their own crop of macaroni trees.
