Former NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg was given cold water by a journalist during an interview with Danish media after the latter asked him several questions that put him in difficulty.
The journalist asked Stoltenberg why NATO threatens China while asking him to tell him how many countries China had intervened militarily in the last 40 years.
While the former NATO chief was giving and taking to respond, he said that this had happened in Vietnam but immediately received the answer from the journalist who told him that this had happened over 40 years ago.
After the first question, Stoltenberg remained in the classroom again after the journalist asked him to tell him in how many countries China had military bases.
While Stoltenberg was chewing his tongue because he didn't know the answer, the journalist pointed out that Beijing only has one base in Djibouti, Africa, while the US has over 750 of them in 80 countries around the world, some of which are on China's doorstep.
interview
Journalist: I would like to ask you some questions about the "Chinese threats" that NATO is very concerned about. In how many countries has China intervened militarily? in the last 40 years?
Stoltenberg: What we are seeing is that China is doing what they want...
Journalist: I wasn't asking you about that, I would like you to answer my question: How many countries has China intervened militarily in the last 40 years?
Stoltenberg: They didn't invade... they were in Vietnam...
Journalist: The answer is zero, these last 40 years...
Stoltenberg: They were in Vietnam…
Journalist: This happened more than 40 years ago. If we stay in this time frame, in how many places in the world does China have military bases?
Stoltenberg: Not much.
Journalist: In only one country, Djibouti, they have a base there, a big one. On the other hand, in the same period the US has attacked 13 countries and has more than 750 military bases around the globe located in 80 countries, some of which are on China's doorstep. And you continue to say that China is a threat?
