The media site of notorious American conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has been auctioned off in the United States, following a court order forcing him to sell his fake news "empire".
The American court has ordered Jones to compensate the families of the victims of the "Sandy Hook" massacre with a full 1.4 billion dollars.
Jones lost the trial against them, after some time ago on his show "Infowars", he had spread dozens of fake news stating that the massacre of 28 victims, most of them children of an elementary school, was fabricated by government agents, and that the parents were "paid actors".
Jones' comments caused parents, in addition to the pain of losing their children, to face a campaign of threats, harassment and blackmail from Jones's conspiracy theorist listeners.
"Infowars" has now been bought by the American satirical newspaper "The Onion".
The CEO of "Onion" Ben Collins has stated that "Infowars" bought it with the help of the families of the victims of "Sandy Hook", and that there is already a plan to transform the conspiracy portal into a page with humorous news.
Alex Jones himself said on social networks that "Infowars was bought by the Democrats and Onion". Jones is known as one of Donald Trump's ardent supporters, although the US president-elect has tried to avoid him as much as possible.
