French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France will recognize the state of Palestine in September, during the United Nations General Assembly.
Israel has reacted to this development, with Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz saying that France's intention to recognize Palestine as a state was a "surrender to terrorism."
"Instead of standing by Israel in this time of trial, the French president is acting to weaken it," Katz wrote in a post on X.
"We will not allow the creation of a Palestinian entity that would harm our security, endanger our existence, and undermine our historic right to the Land of Israel. We are all united to prevent this great danger," he added.

Instead of standing by Israel at the time of the test, the president of France is working to remove it.
