The baby born under the rubble of a collapsed building in Syria and the only member of her immediate family to survive a massive earthquake has been adopted by her aunt and uncle.

Thousands of people offered to adopt him, but apparently the baby was left in the hands of relatives after losing his mother as a result of the tragic earthquake on the morning of February 6.

Doctors said she was in good health.

"She's one of my children now," her uncle said.

"I will not differentiate between her and my children", he added.

The baby has now been named after her late mother: Afraa.

It appears that she will no longer bear the name Aya, which officials gave her after the birth, which means miracle in Arabic.
