The opposition party VMRO-DPMNE in North Macedonia has demanded the resignation of the minister Bujar Osmani, due to the fact that during the meeting with the Spanish counterpart he spoke only in the Albanian language, considering it an undeclared move.
" The disrespect that SDS and DUI do to Macedonia has become a practice for which none of them bears responsibility. Therefore, we demand criminal responsibility for Osmani, that the competent bodies immediately start a procedure and finally, in Macedonia, a proper procedure is started for crimes against the reputation of the state, as is the case.
At the same time, for Osmani to immediately resign from the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, this is the least he can do after such an undeclared move, which is humiliating for all the citizens of Macedonia," it was said . among others, in the statement of VMRO-DPMNE spokesperson, Marija Miteva.
Further, Miteva stated that the minister Bujar Osmani used the Albanian language throughout the meeting, even though according to her, the official language is Macedonian. The opposition considers this a shameful act and demands not only resignation, but also criminal liability.
" It is shameful, unstately and humiliating that of Bujar Osman, who in his capacity as Minister of Foreign Affairs does not use the Macedonian language as the official language of the Republic of Macedonia in an interstate meeting.
Namely, from the official meeting of Osmani with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain through the press conference, it is clearly seen that Osmani only uses the Albanian language, even though it is clear which is the official language of Macedonia for international use defined by the Constitution .
Bujar Osmani is a politician of Albanian origin in North Macedonia. He is a doctor by profession and was previously the Minister of Health, while he is currently the Minister of Foreign Affairs. He is considered one of the best diplomats in the region.
