Colombian farmer discovers $600 million buried in his land, thought to belong to

A Colombian farmer from the Antioquia region found $600 million buried on his farm while doing agricultural work.

According to Colombian media, the money may be linked to the late drug lord Pablo Escobar.

The farmer, who wished to remain anonymous for security reasons, discovered while cultivating the property, several rusty metal barrels buried more than a meter underground containing hundreds of wads of banknotes, mostly US dollars, which were perfectly preserved, reports Spanish newspaper Marca.

The Colombian government is considering confiscating the money.

Colombian authorities, after being notified of the discovery, launched an investigation to determine the exact origin of the money.

According to initial assumptions, the money could be part of hidden warehouses used by the Medellin cartel in the 1980s and 1990s to store large amounts of money that could not be easily legalized or moved.

This wasn't the first time Pablo Escobar's money was found.

At the height of his fame, the drug lord himself had vast sums of money hidden on farms and in the jungle. Many of these supplies were forgotten after his death in 1993.

The discovery has revived interest in "Pablo Escobar's legendary treasure," but has also raised concerns about the safety of the farmer and his family.

The Colombian government is considering whether to seize $600 million or compensate the farmer.
