Thousands of children have begun queuing in Gaza to receive the polio vaccine.

According to a senior health official in Gaza, the vaccination campaign has started very positively.

"No one wants to leave until their children are vaccinated. This is a very positive thing. We hope to continue like this," he said.

Meanwhile, as can be seen from the photos provided by foreign media, hundreds of children are waiting in line to be vaccinated this morning.

This vaccination campaign is supported by a series of localized "humanitarian pauses" in the fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas fighters.

The breaks will take place in three separate phases in three areas of the besieged enclave. These pauses will also allow the first round of vaccination of more than 640 thousand affected children. The WHO said it had already delivered about 1.2 million doses of the polio vaccine to Gaza, while another 400,000 doses will be added later.

The vaccination campaign will begin on Sunday in Central Gaza with a "humanitarian break" scheduled at 6:00 am and 3:00 pm.
