Europe is anxiously watching the second round of the French presidential election. The re-election of Emmanuel Macron guarantees the future of the Franco-German axis and France's stay in the West, while a surprise victory for Putin's friend Marin Le Pen would send the whole of Europe into "unexplored waters" at times.

After the "political earthquake" of the first round, 44-year-old Macron, former executive director of an investment bank and a graduate of the National School of Management (ENA), insists on winning the mandate again despite being at the top of the polls.

Macron was once an active member of the French Socialist Party from 2006-2009, when he joined the cabinet of Socialist President François Hollande, first as Deputy Secretary General of Finance, then as an adviser to the French Presidency and taking over executive positions, and finally, as Minister of Finance and Economy in August 2014, replacing Arno Monteburg.

The presence of the unknown Macron in the environment of the socialist president Hollande was distinguished immediately after 2010. Among the commonalities is the good relationship between the two with the French economist, former adviser to François Mitterrand and one of the most influential intellectuals in the world, Jacques Atali .

The latter promoted Hollande to the French Socialist Party and then aided Macron, telling President Hollande that he was very capable of working for the Elysee. Macron had previously worked at Atal. Since then, Macron has been very ambitious, yet his emergence as a central figure in the French political scene has proved positive.

When Hollande in 2014 suddenly announced tax cuts for French companies, he appointed Macron to the position of chief minister. However, Macron does not hesitate to describe 2015 as "outdated" for the country's development goals, working hours 35 hours a week, causing shock even within the government.

His relationship with the country's prime minister Manuel Valls is deteriorating dramatically. Indeed, on November 16, 2016, Macron publicly announced his candidacy for next year’s presidential election.

In a brief statement of his candidacy, fully expressing his political stance, Macron announced France's "exit from the status quo (political)".

Despite her far-right positions, the close friendships she maintains with Eurosceptic leaders such as Victor Orban are already well-known. French voters have all the information and evidence needed to make a serious choice, regarding their attitude to the evil that Putin represents.

France, which has done so much since the European Enlightenment, to promote and defend freedom, equality and brotherhood, is once again involved in a struggle for these virtues.

Macron's political struggle is also a struggle for democracy. If French citizens make the wrong choice on April 24, they will not be able to use ignorance as a means of protection.
