Protests over the Tempi tragedy in Athens

Tens of thousands of students from all over Greece, as well as citizens and public figures, marched in Athens today, in a massive protest to demand justice for the tragic Tempi accident, where 57 people lost their lives in the collision of two trains.

Protesters gathered in Syntagma Square in Athens, demanding that officials be held accountable for the tragedy of two years ago. The square was also marked by violent incidents and clashes with police.

Protesters threw Molotov cocktails and stones, while police responded with water cannons and tear gas.

At least 13 protesters were reportedly injured, 27 others were arrested. A police officer was also injured.

Smaller protests have also been organized in other cities in Greece.

Six Albanian students also lost their lives in the Tempi tragedy.
