Donald Trump does not back down, increases global tariffs from 10% to 15% after

US President Donald Trump has announced a further increase in tariffs on all imported goods, raising the rate from 10% to 15%. The decision comes after a heated clash with the Supreme Court, which struck down the previous tariff package on the grounds that the president had exceeded his legal authority.

Trump had initially threatened a 10% tax on every product entering the US, but after the court ruling he said he would use an old trade law to set the maximum level allowed. The new tariffs are expected to take effect on February 24 and could last about five months, while congressional approval is required.

In a harsh reaction, Trump called the Court's decision "ridiculous, poorly written and extremely un-American."
