Donald Trump Jr. made an unannounced visit to Istanbul last week, where he met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to information published by the Middle East Eye website.

This meeting caused reactions, as it was suspected to be related to discussions on the Gaza issue.

Trump Jr.'s visit was first revealed by Ozgur Ozel, chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP), who accused Erdogan of participating in "secret negotiations" with the US president's eldest son regarding the Palestinian issue.

Ozell said Trump Jr. appeared as a "businessman" in official protocol, without mentioning his name, and emphasized that while Palestine is suffering, both sides are dealing with business issues.

At the same time, Özel complained that Erdogan pretends to criticize Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, ignoring Trump's role as the "real sponsor" of the situation.

A source close to the Turkish president, speaking to Deutsche Welle, confirmed the meeting with Trump Jr., describing it as a “courtesy visit.” However, the same source denied that there was an official discussion about Gaza or other specific issues, dismissing Özel’s claims.

Although Trump Jr. holds no official position in his father's administration, he is considered a key figure in the White House, serving as executive vice chairman of the Trump Organization. During his visit to Turkey, he was accompanied by businessmen with similar interests.

Trump Jr. is no stranger to Turkey, having visited the country in 2016 for investment meetings in Istanbul. Meanwhile, Erdogan maintains good relations with Donald Trump and is seeking a bilateral meeting with the US president on the sidelines of the upcoming UN General Assembly.

The meeting's agenda is expected to include issues such as Turkey's purchase of F-16 fighter jets, the integration of Syrian Kurds into the Damascus government, possible deals for the F-35, as well as recent tensions between Israel and Turkey over Syria and Gaza.

In addition, the documents show that Trump Jr. has made several trips to the region, visiting cities such as Riyadh and Doha, accompanying his father on official missions in the Persian Gulf.
