German Bundestag MPs say election manipulations in Serbia have led the EU and Western countries to no longer see Aleksandar Vucic as a reliable partner.

German MEP Josip Juratovic said in an interview with Serbian media that no EU country can accept elections like the ones held on December 17 in Serbia.

"Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has finally lost all confidence with these elections, not only in the EU and in the West, but also on the global scale. A politician who runs the political scene of a country in such a way cannot be a reliable partner to anyone. We have never seen such a brutal campaign as in Serbia," Juratovic said.

The MEP of the Social Democratic Party of Germany also spoke of a change in EU attitudes towards power in Serbia.

"I have long wanted the EU and Germany to communicate with Serbian institutions and not just with one man. The country has ministers, parliament, government, it's not just Aleksandar Vucic who runs the state. Why should I be happy about winning the election? He was not a candidate, only autocratic leaders agree with the way he is running Serbia."

The Bundestag MP has criticized the Serbian opposition, which he said should have done more during the electoral campaign by mobilizing people and the international community. US and EU institutions have demanded verification of serbian opposition claims of election manipulation.
