The 4-year prison sentence of the leader of the right-wing National Front party in France, Marine Le Pen, has prompted numerous reactions and messages of support from leaders of far-right parties in Europe.

They have stated that the decision is political and seeks to prevent Le Pen from running for president in France in the 2027 elections. Hungarian Prime Minister Orban and Italian Deputy Prime Minister Salvini have stated that they will not stop and that the condemnation is a "declaration of war" from Brussels.

Hungarian Prime Minister Orban writes: “Je suis Marine!” (I am Marine).

Meanwhile, Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, of the League party, said they will not surrender.

"Those who fear the judgment of voters often find safety in the judgment of the courts. We will not be afraid, we will not stop," he writes.

Meanwhile, Jordan Bardella, president of the Rassemblement National party, is calling for a "peaceful" mobilization following the decision against Le Pen.

In a statement, he describes the sentence as a "democratic scandal" and says that "French democracy is being executed."

"By banning Marine Le Pen from running in the 2027 presidential election, they are trying by all means to prevent her from reaching the Élysée Palace," he says.

"Through our popular and peaceful mobilization, let's show them that the will of the people is stronger," adds Bardella, urging his followers on X to sign a petition of support.
