The United States of America opposes Serbia's efforts to equate the murder of the Kosovo sergeant, Afrim Bunjaku, with the attackers "who were involved in his murder".

This is what the spokesperson of the US Department of State, Mathew Miller, told Radio Free Europe, when asked about how the US considers the people who attacked the Kosovo Police in Banjska, Zveçan on September 24.

"We have been very clear: the US strongly condemns the coordinated and violent attacks on the Kosovo Police on September 24, and we express our condolences to the family of the Kosovo Police sergeant who was killed in the line of duty. We oppose attempts to equate the tragic death of Kosovo Police Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku with the death of individuals who were involved in the killing of a policeman. Those responsible must be brought to justice through a transparent investigative process. This investigation is ongoing," Miller said.
