"We got on the truck to go to England", BBC helps rescue 6 migrants

Six migrants have been rescued from the back of a refrigerated lorry in France after the BBC helped track them down and alerted the police.

The four Vietnamese and two Iraqi women were trapped inside. One of them spoke to the BBC from inside the truck, who then helped them by contacting the police and stopping the truck.

French police have arrested the driver and opened an investigation into a suspected illegal immigration ring.

The four Vietnamese said they boarded the truck with the promise that they would be taken safely to England, one of them a minor and the other two from Iraq.

"One of the women told me the location, and then I asked a colleague in France to help contact the nearest police station," said one of the BBC.
