Britain raises the alarm: TikTok is taking personal data and violating
TikTok

People in the UK have been urged to delete the TikTok app from their phones, due to the potential dangers.

Conservative MP and chair of the foreign affairs committee Alicia Kearns said the popular video-sharing platform represented a serious data risk.

It claims the social media platform leaves user data vulnerable to hostile threats, specifically referring to the Chinese government. The company that owns TikTok (ByteDance) is based in Beijing and has vehemently denied that any data was ever handed over to the Chinese government.

On Sunday, Kearns told Sophy Ridge on Sky News:

"It's not worth having that on your phone. It is the ultimate source of data for anyone with hostile efforts.”

TikTok has more than a billion users worldwide and is undoubtedly hugely popular, but there are growing concerns about the data it collects from the devices of those using the platform.

TikTok has already been the subject of legal action in the US over alleged privacy violations and there has been talk of banning the app entirely. The fun application has a very wide use even in Albania and many users use it to post their videos with different themes.
