Brussels is closely monitoring Albania regarding the Balluku issue.
Speaking at the " Politico " forum, European Union Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos , while describing SPAK's work as excellent, said that it is not only the investigation of the issue that is important, but also the reactions it brings.
"There are some issues, you mentioned the Balluku case, which we are monitoring closely. As you know, SPAK is doing an excellent job in Albania and in fact it is normal for them to investigate or find violations. Another element for us is the fact that in addition to the issues under investigation, reactions are also important. We are monitoring those as well," said Kos.
According to Kos, the fight against corruption is complicated as work must also be done to change the approach to the phenomenon and not just regulate the law.
"Another element in the fight against corruption, especially for candidate countries, is that you can have the best legislation, but if corruption is accepted in those countries, then another problem appears. So all those countries are moving towards a process of changing the mindset of the concept of corruption and this will take time," said Kos.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku is accused by SPAK of violating equality in tenders, for the " Llogara Tunnel " and the lots of the " Great Ring " of Tirana./ Politico
