Athens reacted immediately after Turkish President Erdogan's statements on the issue of the islands of Lesbos and Samos, where he accused Greece of carrying out a "secret invasion by deploying armored vehicles in these territories".
Through a press statement, the Greek Foreign Ministry declares that Turkey has every right to protect its interests, but should not threaten war.
"Turkey has every right to protect its interests by any legal means, with the basic condition that it accepts the rules of international law. However, it has no right to flagrantly violate International Law and threaten Greece with war," the announcement reads.
Furthermore, the Greek Foreign Ministry informs that Greece has no claims against Turkey and is in favor of dialogue based on international law.
However, it will protect its legitimate interests and rights if the need arises.
