Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani with her two daughters

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has reacted to the arrest of a cameraman, stating that journalists have endangered the safety of her minor daughters. She denounced the publication of their location, classes and unauthorized recordings while they attended the "Ismail Qemali" school in Pristina.

Osmani considered that journalists have never reported on the fact that the head of state sends her children to public school in Kosovo. She added that, like other students, her daughters have faced problems: water, electricity and heating cuts, lack of cleaning and lack of security at school.

"The only thing some of these so-called journalists did was endanger the safety of my daughters, who went to public school every day, by publishing their location, their classes, unauthorized recordings of their faces, without any prior permission, despite their minor age [...] The same, unauthorized recordings of minor children, they attempted to do today as well," Osmani wrote.

Osmani stressed that the police presence to protect her daughters is legal because, according to security agencies, they fall into the high-risk category. She accused journalists, estimating that “a significant part of this risk” stems from the actions of “some of these so-called journalists” operating in Kosovo.
