Russian hackers have attacked the Italian administration system, blocking a number of important services, Italian media reports.

The attack is of the "ransomware" type and blocks computers until the payment is made to the hackers, in this case in cryptocurrency, as it is untraceable.

According to "Il Messaggero", the problems started on December 8, affecting more than 1300 administrative entities that provide public services.

Payroll reporting, electronic invoicing systems and other services were compromised by the attack.

It is reported that the main problems were encountered by small municipalities, but less so by the central administration of the country's largest cities. Consequences include blocking some digital services, including managing payslips and electronic invoicing.

For the latter, the problem concerns those who use Quifattura. Companies have not been able to register invoices and transmit VAT obligations within the deadline set by law. An extension has been agreed with the Revenue Agency, which will allow you to have no penalties or interests.
