The average daily number of Russian casualties in Ukraine increased by almost 300 during 2023.
If the numbers continue at the current rate over the next year, Russia will have lost over half a million people in Ukraine.
This has been announced by the British Ministry of Defence, which reports this on X (formerly Twitter) in an intelligence update on the war in Ukraine.
If the figures reflected by the British intelligence units are correct, then this figure would mark one of the biggest historical losses for the Russian Army, especially considering a military campaign conducted outside its borders.
Despite this, since the start of fighting in Ukraine on February 24, 2021, the figures for the loss of life for the respective sides have been unclear and contradictory.
Russia has accepted a number of losses of about 35-40 thousand soldiers, but never such staggering numbers.
As, Ukraine itself, also leaves doubts about its losses, where foreign intelligence services reflect different figures compared to those of Kiev.
