3,500-year-old chariot discovered in Spain, extraordinary discovery sheds light

A rare archaeological discovery is attracting the attention of researchers around the world, after a 3,500-year-old chariot has been discovered at a Bronze Age settlement, providing new insights into the life and technology of an ancient civilization.

The cart was found during excavations at the archaeological site of Cabezo Redondo, near the city of Villena in Spain.

According to archaeologists, the site was remarkably well-preserved thanks to a major fire that destroyed the settlement around 1500 BC. The burning and immediate covering by rubble created ideal conditions for the preservation of organic materials, which usually decompose over time.

Experts emphasize that such discoveries are extremely rare, as wood is one of the materials most quickly damaged by natural factors. For this reason, each preserved element of the cart constitutes a valuable source of information on how the inhabitants of that time transported goods, organized daily life and developed economic activities.

Archaeologists believe that the settlement where the cart was found was an important Bronze Age center on the Iberian Peninsula. Workshops, warehouses, ceramic vessels and metal objects have also been discovered there, which testify to a developed community with trade connections and advanced technology for the time.

Researchers will continue laboratory analysis to determine precisely how the cart was built, the type of wood used, and its function. They hope that this discovery will help reconstruct the history of this civilization, which disappeared thousands of years ago but continues to reveal its secrets through archaeological excavations.
