Arben Ahmetaj tonight in "Opinion"

Note- Arben Ahmetaj may have discovered between the lines how the 22 million dollars that he was accused of stealing through an illegal contract between the company founded by him, Hermes and Albtelecom for the purchase of impulses, were cleaned.

According to the contract signed at the end of August 2000, just two weeks after the company was registered with the KKB, Ahmetaj bought the impulses 8 times cheaper than a decision of the Council of Ministers predicted and in a court process that ended in 2016 with withdrawal of the company, now privatized, it was estimated that the damage caused to the state budget was 22 million dollars.

But how could corruption money have been cleaned? Ahmetaj himself may have discovered how. Among the statements made in Opinion, the former minister showed how he had been a successful entrepreneur until 2008 when he sold the company.

He revealed that he paid up to $1 million in dividends, or profit withdrawals, from the company he owned before he sold it to become an MP. Why did such a successful man in the business world need the post of deputy?

One answer may be to secure the power and immunity he gave to protect himself from corrupt dealings.

This is reinforced even if we take into account the economic situation for the years that Ahmetaj is talking about, when informality reached up to 70 percent of the economy, fiscal evasion was rampant and with the exception of some foreign companies, almost no Albanian company declared dividends of 1 million dollars in year.

Are these declared money really a source of business income at that time, or are they fictitious invoices to legally justify the 22 million dollars profited through the abusive contract with Albtelekom in 2000? This question can only be answered by an in-depth investigation by SPAK, which has already received the report.
